I have read the Internet Acceptable Use Policy and agree to promote and explain this agreement with the student. Because the student may use the network for individual work or in the context of another class, I cannot be held totally responsible for the student’s use of the network. As the sponsoring teacher, I do agree to instruct the student on acceptable use of the network and proper network etiquette, and will monitor all students within my jurisdiction to the best of my ability wherever and whenever feasible. As the sponsoring teacher I recognize I have the responsibility to adhere to this policy as well as the AUP agreement both as a sponsoring teacher and individual user.

Website Guidelines
Subject Matter
Websites may be designed and developed by individual schools and departments or divisions within the district. The specific content of these sites is left to the discretion of originating website publisher within the following guidelines:
· Must be directly related the ECSD mission and not in conflict with any district policies, rules, or regulations.
· May not violate any federal, state, or local laws.
· All subject matter on web pages should relate to curriculum, instruction, school authorized activities, general information that is appropriate and of interest to others, the
· No personal pages may be published. All pages must be academic, school, or department related.
· Site administrators are responsible for the content of their site.
· Correct grammar and spelling must be used.
· The home page of each site must contain the site name (school, department, etc.), a link to the ECSD home page, the date when it was last updated, and the email address of the site webmaster. Each site must also contain the official ECSD logo letting users know they are viewing a site of the
· Written and dated permission must be secured from the parent or guardian before any student work or photo can be placed on the web.
· District, school, and departmental pages will not use text, graphics, multimedia, or copyrighted material from other websites without the written consent of the author. When used, such material must acknowledge the source.
· Before materials are published on the school web site, the building administrator must approve school and teacher websites before publication on the web.
Publish of Photographs and Student Work
Photos and student work add interest and visual appeal to sites. They can help with the understanding of activities and programs. Care must be taken, however, to avoid including personal information about subjects.
· Captions should identify the activity.
· Documents may not include a student’s phone number, address names of other family members, or names of friends.
· Decisions on publishing student pictures (still or video) and audio clips are based on the supervising teacher’s judgment. The teacher must first check with the school office to determine if the student’s parent or guardian has given written permission.
· Pictures of students may only be used after securing the written and dated permission of the student’s parent or guardian.
The great advantage of the Internet is its ability to guide users to related sites. Developers are encouraged to use links within the following parameters:
· Links may not conflict with ECSD rules and regulations.
· Links to potentially offensive sites are not permitted.
· School administration shall be the final arbiter of what is offensive or inappropriate.
· Email links are permitted only to district staff email addresses. Links to student email addresses are not allowed.
· Links should be periodically verified.
